The 4th Judicial Circuit court in Maryland County has granted a change of venue motion filed by state lawyer. Those accused are charged with criminal conspiracy and murder.

In jungle justice-style earlier this year, the three men (whose photos are shown above) recently became victims of a trial by ordeal and were executed after being subjected to mob/jungle justice in the town of Barrobo, Maryland County, southeastern Liberia and citizens are calling on the government to put a stop to this practice.

Trial by ordeal is a violation of Liberian law but it has been going on in some areas around the country through “Sassywood” ever since the practice was banned many years ago.

The bodies of the three men allegedly killed earlier this year

In Rock town, Barrobo District, three persons including the town chief were brutally murdered for allegedly openly confessing that they were witchcraft on Monday, September 2, 2019.

The three victims include Isaac Weah Saydee, David Nugbo and Issac Gortoe whose ages are yet to be identified.

But now, a motion filed by state lawyer, in recent days calls for a change of venue, something the prosecution says is in line with statute entitled to all parties.

Maryland County Attorney said the motion was filed on two counts. Prosecution feels that if the case remains in Maryland County, that there will not be impartial trial and for security concerns.

The case has now been taken to River Gee County to be tried during the February term of court.
