Pres. Weah appoints former Inquirer Reporter new Press Secretary

-Isaac Solo Kelgbeh takes over from Sam Mannah

A former Reporter of a local Liberian daily, The Inquier, Isaac Mr. Solo Kelgbeh has been appointed by President George Manneh Weah as his new Press Secretary.

An Executive Mansion release announced the appointment of Mr. Kelgbeh on Tuesday.

Mr. Kelgbeh is also former Outreach officer at the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS). And he also has a long background in sports reporting, especially football and covered the Liberian football icon-turned politician, President Weah during his playing days.

The incoming Presidential Press Secretary replaces Mr. Sam Mannah, who was some time ago removed from this post and sent to the National Insurance Corporation of Liberia (NICOL) as Deputy Managing Director.

Recently, there were media reports of strained relations between President Weah and his now former Press Secretary, with claims that Mr. Mannah had been gossiping about Weah to some individuals, while visiting the United States.

The reports said as a result, Mr. Mannah was suspended by the Liberian leader, speculations that took over the media for weeks, with the Presidency being tight lipped for some time.

But the Ministry of Information later denied that the Press Secretary was suspended, terming the media reports as false and misleading.

Deputy Information Minister for Public Affairs, Eugene Fahngon at the time called on those spreading false information on in the press and on social media to desist and seek the proper information.
