SPORTS: Competitive Kickball, As Future Girls KC Increase Their Chance In The LKF League

Competitive kickball action continued last weekend in Margibi County in the ongoing Liberia Kickball Federation (LKF) Margibi 2023-2024 League Season.

Last weekend’s fixtures marked Week III of the competition which witness all of the eight clubs fighting for a space on the League table.

Week III of the competition did not favor the two most talked about clubs in the competition with either club failing to get a win in either of the games played over the weekend.

The reigning champions of the competition United Angels KC and former back-to-back champions Destiny Girls KC could not get a single win over the weekend which marks the first since the start of the competition.

At the famous Nancy B. Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata, Margibi County on Saturday, 15 June in game one Vision Sisters KC defeated Surprise KC 4-2 in an away fixture while in game two Future Girls defeated God’s Favor KC 2-0.

And in the day’s final show piece at the same venue Destiny Girls KC and United Angels KC played to a one-all-draw draw at full-time.

Mary Willie gives Destiny Girls KC an early 1-0 lead in the fourth inning with just one inning left for Destiny Girls KC.

Destiny Girls KC failed to add up the score in the fifth inning which saw United Angels KC putting out a good defense due to an added advantage with them having one inning left.

Princess Reeves got the equalizer in the fifth and final inning for United Angels KC to salvage a point for United Angels KC in such competitive kickball action.

At the other venue of the competition the 14th Road Sports Pitch in Kakata on Sunday, 16 June game one witness   War Girls KC forfeited points to Surprise KC in game one while in game two United Angels KC and God’s Favor played to a two-all-draw during full-time.

In other results at the same venue on 16 June Destiny Girls KC came from a home run down to play Vision Sisters KC to a one-all-draw after Vision Sisters KC took an early lead through Esther Kollie.Nancy Tamba got the lone home run for Destiny Girls KC to secure a point in the match against Vision Sisters KC.

At the same time, several players clinch the Queen of the Match Award of Week III games over the weekend.

Among those winning the Queen of the Match Award on Saturday, 15 June include Dorcas Kermue  (Vision Sisters KC ) in game one, Massa Yamah ( Future Girls KC ) game two and Princess Reeves (United Angels KC) in game three.

On Sunday, 16 June players winning the Queen of the Match Award include Esther Kollie (Vision Sisters) , Mary Holder (God’s Favor KC) and Massa Yamah (Future Girls KC).

The Weala based kickball club Future Girls KC pitcher Massa Yamah sets a record of becoming the first player in the competition to win the Queen of the Match Award twice during a weekend games.

Future Girls KC two victory over the just ended weekend moves the club on top of the league table with 15pts from 6 games with 4pts ahead of second place Destiny Girls KC and third place United Angels KC.

A win for Future Girls KC in the team’s final game to climax the first phase means they will automatically gained top spot, with the ending the first phase of the competition on top of the League table.

The LKF- Margibi Sub-association 2023-2024 League continues on 22 June in Bong Mines, Bong County with all eight clubs playing the final game to climax first phase of the competition.
