Liberia Police IG Attends International Police Chiefs Summit In New York, USA

Monrovia, Liberia-ย In fostering further partnership for the Liberia National Police with the United Nations, the Inspector General of Police, Hon. ๐‘ฎ๐’“๐’†๐’ˆ๐’๐’“๐’š ๐‘ถ. ๐‘พ. ๐‘ช๐’๐’๐’†๐’Ž๐’‚๐’ is in the United States of America as head of delegation to participate in a Two-Day United Nations Chiefs of Police Summit (UNCOPS) in New York City.

The conference marks the fourth United Nations Chiefs of Police Summit (UNCOPS 2024) that brings together Ministers, Chiefs of Police and senior representatives of regional and professional policing organizations to the United Nations Headquarters from June 26-27, 2024.

The conference is geared towards strengthening international peace, security, and development for all through the unifying power and enabling role of national and United Nations policing.

Building on the third UNCOPS in 2022 and the most recent Peacekeeping Ministerial in Ghana 2023, the submit will also present a forum for high-level discussion on how UN Policing can respond effectively to most pressing challenges to global peace and security whilst advancing the action for Peacekeeping initiatives, new vision for the rule of law, Sustainable Development Agenda and other frameworks.

In an invite to IGP, the UN Secretary General is expected to deliver opening remarks on the 27th of June, subject to ongoing operational exigencies.

Other members of the delegation to the summit include: Deputy Inspector General for Training and Manpower Development, Hon. Sadatu L. M. Reeves and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Atty. Peter K.
