ZWEDRU, Liberia- Two men have been sent to court in the southeastern County of Grand Gedeh by Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA) for illegally possessing and trafficking the narcotic drug, Kush.
Liberia’s new President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has declared narcotic drug abuse and trafficking a National Health Emergency, with the newly confirmed Director of the LDEA, Abraham Kromah vowing to crack down on the menace.

Emmanuel Dweh and Prince Gaye were recently forward to the Zwedru Magisterial Court by the LDEA on charges of illegal possession of narcotic substances and illicit trafficking drugs in Grand Gedeh County.
They were arrested at a security checkpoint with a consignment of Kush worth $LD18,000.
The two defendant, Emmanuel Dweh and Prince Gaye, have since admitted to the commission of the crime. They said they were carrying Kush from Barteh Jam gold mining camp to Zwedru, when they caught and arrested at gate five last Friday, February 9, 2024.
The Chief of operations at LDEA Grand Gedeh detachment, Lawrence S. Tarley, said that the arrest and forwarding to court was in line with Liberia’s illicit drug law.
