The Bishop of the Lutheran Church in Liberia, the Right Reverend G Victor Padmore has called on all Liberians to be peaceful, reconciliatory and united as they observe Christmas this Wednesday, December 25, 2024 to mark the birth of Jesus Christ.

He observed that Christmas is coming at the time Liberia is facing a period uncert6ain and tension as the legislative impasse is threatening the socio-economic stability of the nation, leaving many of the Liberian people anxious about the future.

Bishop Padmore’s call was contained in his Christmas message released on the theme: “Let the Prince of Peace Rule in Our Hearts,” by his office located at compound of   the Lutheran Church in Monrovia during the weekend.

The Lutheran Bishop advised Liberians that political disagreements and impasses, while natural in any democracy, must not become barriers to the socio-economic progress and national stability of our nation.

Bishop Padmore has also cautioned leaders to prioritize the welfare of their people above personal or partisan interests, for leadership is a sacred trust given by God

He encouraged Liberians to remain hopeful and prayerful and unite in prayer for their leaders, their institutions, and the country; adding: “Christmas is a day that should remind us that light shines brightest in the darkest of times and let us be instruments of peace and agents of change, ensuring that our actions reflect the love and humility of Jesus the Christ.”

“Let us also care for the vulnerable among us—the poor, the hungry, and the displaced—reflecting the heart of Christ, who came to serve and save,”

“As we celebrate His birth, we ask for Your divine intervention in Liberia. Grant wisdom to our leaders, unity to our people, and peace to our nation.”

Concluding, Bishop Padmore prayed that love and light shine in every corner of the land, dispelling darkness and bringing hope and help the people to be peacemakers, reflecting the true meaning of Christmas.
