SPORTS: LFA National 3rd Division Big 8: As SUSA FC Books A Ticket To Quarter Finals

Shciefflin United Sports Association (SUSA FC) dream of gaining promotion to the second top-tier league of domestic football the Orange National League-2nd Division has taken another dramatic step in such making such dream come to reality.

The Margibi County outfit club SUSA FC advances to the Quarterfinals stage of the competition through the expense of its nearest rival WeinTown United FC.

It was SUSA FC tailsman Stephen Pina lone goal in the 32′ minute in the first half on 16 July at the famous Nancy B. Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata during the first leg of the Big 15 of the competition, which gave the Margibi County 2023-2024 League runner-up SUSA FC a 1-0 home win against the counterpart Margibi County 2023-2024 League Champions Wein Town United FC.

In the second leg at the same venue mentioned earlier, Wein Town United FC and SUSA FC played to a goalless draw at full-time on 18 July which saw the Margibi County Champions Wein Town United FC exiting from this year’s edition of the competition. That saw the dream of gaining promotion to the second top-tier league of domestic football the Orange National League-2nd Division coming to a tearful end.

The win for SUSA FC against Wein Town United FC on Tuesday, 16 July at the famous Nancy B. Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata in the ongoing LFA National 3rd Division Playoff marks the first of the season in all competition.

Both teams met four (4) times in all competition with SUSA FC winning one with three (3) draws.

Despite Wein Town United FC clinching the LFA Margibi Sub-association Third Division 2023-2024 League Season, the club failed to secure three points from SUSA FC in the two meetings in the League.

KUSA FC (Bong) GOMPA FC (Nimba) , Downtown FC, District 17 & Amazing FC  Montserrado ) Paris FC ( Grand Gedeh) and Dreams FC( Sinoe) are the other clubs to book a Quarterfinals stage ticket.

This year’s edition of the competition kickstarted on 3 July with 28 clubs from the 15 counties with games played in the 15 counties for the first time in the competition with team playing on a home and away format.

SUSU FC road to the Big 8:

SUSA FC started on a slow note with a one-all-draw at the famous Nancy B.  Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata on 3 July against the Champions of Grand Bassa County Sub-Association Third Division League Des Moines United FC.

In the return leg SUSA FC defeated Des Moines United FC 2-0 in an away fixture at the Doris Williams Sports Stadium in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County on 7 July.

SUSA FC win against Des Moines United FC on 7 July marks the first win in the competition and moreover first away win.

With such win in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County against Des Moines United on 7 July it saw the Margibi County outfit club SUSA FC sitting second place in Zone Four that saw the team advancing to the next round of the competition (Big 15).

In the first leg of the Big 15 of the competition SUSA FC defeated the Champions of Riverces County River-Cess FC 1-0 in Rivercess County in an away fixture on 11 July while in the return leg on 13 July at the famous Nancy B. Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata SUSA FC and River-Cess FC played to a two-all-draw at full-time.

The Margibi County outfit club SUSA FC travels to Ganta, Nimba County in an away fixture to GOMPA FC at the Gompa Sports Stadium on the 28 July with the return leg schedule for 1 August at the famous Nancy B. Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata, Margibi County.

The Quarterfinals stage of the competition kick start from 27-28 of July with two games a day of the competition.

This year’s edition of the competition Third Place and Grand Final schedule for 11 August at the Gompa Sports Stadium in Ganta, Nimba County.

The winner of this year’s edition automatically clinched the championship and moreover gain promotion to the Orange National League-2nd Division along with the second place and third place winners.

The last year edition of the competition was played in Montserrado County with Discoveries SA after defeating Mighty Enforcers FC 2-1 in the Grand Final on 11 June at the ATS on the UN Drive.
