5 Labour Ministry Workers Sacked For Faking As Labour Inspectors

Liberia’s Ministry of Labour ordered the immediate dismissal of five employees for their involvement in illegal activities recently carried out in Gbarpolu County.

The affected employees are: Edwin Seebo, Victor Whymah, Samuel  Sambola, Bill  Ninneh and  Raymond Saah , Inspector.

According to a Labour Ministry press release, the ministry launched an immediate investigation and discovered that the individuals involved, though employees of the Ministry of Labour, were not inspectors.

The ministry stated that its decision to dismiss these employees is intended to serve as a strong warning and deterrent to all employees of the Ministry of Labour, emphasizing that the ministry will not condone or tolerate any unlawful behaviour from its employees.

ne 17, 2024, the Superintendent of Gbarpolu County brought to the attention of the Minister of Labour, Counsellor Cooper   Kruah, that some individuals, who had presented themselves as inspectors of the ministry, were in Gbarpolu County arresting alleged aliens and seizing their passports under the pretext of being Ministry of Labour inspectors.

Their activities in the county were illegal as they were not authorized by the acting minister, let alone the minister proper.

The release further stated that following the outcome of the investigation, the Minister of Labour, Counsellor Cooper Kruah, has with immediate effect ordered the dismissal of the five employees involved in the illegal activities carried out in Gbarpolu County, with a similar case in Monrovia involving one of its inspectors.

Meanwhile, the dismissed employees have been ordered to turn over all government properties in their possession to the Human Resource Director/Department.
