SPORTS: Careysburg Mayor Urey Receives Prestigious Honour From LFA Mt. Carey Sub-Committee

Careysburg City Mayor, Edward Urey over the weekend received a certificate of honor for his numerous contributions to the sporting environment of the people of Careysburg and most especially the local football house’s subcommittee.

Mayor Urey Received such Certificate of Honor at the climax of the league season and closing ceremony of the LFA-Mount Carey Sub-committee 4th Division League on Sunday, 27 April at the George Weah Technical Center in Careysburg.

“This Certificate of honor shows your support to the sporting body of Careburgs and most especially the Sub-committee here headed by me and thanks for everything you do for us and making sure that the young people of Careysburg in making sure they pursue the soccer journey,” said Chairman Amos Blacktom.

At the same time, Mayor Urey also serves as a Guest of Honor at such occasion where he did the officially kick-off of the game between two of the title contenders of such competition namely King Parks Rangers and Jamin FC in such a tease football match that climax the league season at such occasion.

Mayor Urey used the occasions to thank the Sub-committee for such successful league ending and moreover encourage the various teams to focus on discipline on the pitch and even off the pitch.

“What I noticed here today is discipline all of you exhibited such and that is most important and moreover though King Park Rangers became victorious but not withstanding all of you are winners so let us celebrate such success, ” said Mayor Urey.

He later presented a cash prize of Eighteen Thousands Liberian Dollars (LD$18,000.00 ) to all of the winners as a little token which saw Champions King Park Rangers Walking away with LD 15,000.00 , second place Jamin  FC pockets LD 5,000.00 and third place Laurita FC earning LD 3,000.00 .

About Mayor Edward Urey:

Mr. Urey is not just a government official but also a sports administrator where he currently serves as CEO of Shaita Football Club and president of Shaita FC II for over two years.

 

This year’s edition of the LFA- Mount Carey Sub-committee 4th Division League witness six (6) clubs competing in the competition which saw King Park Rangers clinching the championship with 16 points from 6 games played winning 5 and 1 draw.
