SPORTS: LFA-Mt Carey Sub-Committee–Zion FC Clinched FA Cup Championship

Zion Football Club clinched championship of the year’s edition of the Liberia Football Association- Mt Carey Sub-Committee Knockout Cup or FA Cup Competition.

Zion Football Club secured such feat after coming from a goal down at halftime to play to a one-all-draw at fulltime and win 4-3 in penalities shootout against Montserrado FC in the grandfinal of the competition on Wednesday, 23 April at the Zenith football house of Careburgs the George Weah Technical Center.

Montserrado FC took an early 1-0 lead against Zion FC which resulted Montserrado FC clinching a 1-0 halftime win against Zion FC,  but it was back from the break it was when Zion FC got the equalizer which saw both clubs playing to a one-all-draw during the full-time .

Zion FC victory in penalty shootouts against Montserrado FC witness the club  clinching the championship in the FA Cup and earned the club a ticket for the 2025 Montserrado 3rd Division Playoff expected April or early May 2025.

This year’s edition marks the first of such competition under the dynamic chairperson of such Sub-committee Amos Blacktom.

The FA Cup is the second biggest competition of the LFA-Mt Carey Sub-committee which is designed to see 3rd and 4th Division clubs competing in such competition moreover provide a slot for representation at the Montserrado 3rd Division Playoff.

Zion FC walked away with a gigantic trophy and medals as winner while Montserrado FC clinched medals as runner-up for the LFA-Mt Carey Sub-committee 2024-2025 FA Cup.

At the same time, FA Cup winner Zion FC , League Champions Fendell United FC and runner-up Nimba FC are the three clubs representing the Mt. Carey Sub-committee to the 2025 Montserrado 3rd Division Playoff.
