SPORTS: Liberia’s King Park Rangers FC Wins Local Championship Unbeaten

Kingsville Township-based football club King Park Rangers has clinched the LFA-Mount Carey Sub-committee 4th Division 2024-2025 League Championship.

The team collected if first 4th Division League Championship after a one-all-draw with Jamin FC on Sunday, 27 April at the George Weah Technical Center in Careburgs in a mouthwatering football encounter a game that climax the league season and moreover a match that a winner from either side could give them such championship.

King Park Rangers took an early 1-0 lead in the early minutes of the second half after a scoreless first half through Sunday Sando, but with no time to rest Joseph Kennedy of Jamin FC got the equalizer as both clubs played to a one-all-draw at full time.

Such vital point earned on the final day of the season sealed the first league championship of the community league which they accumulated 16 points from 6 games played.

The 2024-2025 LFA-Mount Carey Sub-committee 4th Division League Champions King Park Rangers played a total of six games in the league winning 5 and drawing one.

King Park Rangers sets a record of the League title unbeaten which saw them playing 6 games in the league.

The League Championship marks the first major achievement in such competition since the establishment of the club in 2020, despite being relegated to such competition.

“I am over happy for such championship though it was not easy a dream come true for us winning the championship and gaining promotion back to the 3rd Division League it is really a dream come true but thanks to our supporters, the technical staffs head by Coach and the entire playing body for such an achievement ” say Club’s President Dos Santo Joel Tommy Jr.

Six (6) clubs competed in such competition which witness three (3) clubs gaining promotion to the top-tier league of the LFA-Mount Carey Sub-committee.

This year’s edition of the competition sees three clubs been promoted to the LFA-Mount Carey Sub-committee 3rd Division League which include Champions King Park Rangers, second and third place Jamin FC and Laurita FC.

At the same time several players and sports administrators received individual  awards at a colorful program held on Sunday, 27 April at the final games at the George Weah Technical Center.

Among the winners include Cryrus Saye clinching the League Most Valuable Player and on the other hand the Mayor of Careburgs Mayor Edward Urey Received a certificate of honor where he came as a Guest Of Honor which saw him doing the kick-off before the mat g between King Park Rangers and Jamin FC.

*Best Defender- Christopher Borbor – Jamin FC
