Seven Ghanaians, who recently entered Grandcess, Grand Kru in southeastern Liberia by canoes from Ivory Coast via the Atlantic Ocean, have been quarantined for 14 days by Grand Kru County Health Team.

They have been spending the observation period in isolation at the Rally Time Hospital in Barclayville since April 3, 2020.

None of the Ghanaians have so far shown any sign or symptom of the coronavirus disease, according to the County Surveillance Officer, Jimmy Lawubah.

Mr. Lawubah has used the situation to reiterate the need to keep social distancing and strict adherence to prescribed protocols put in place by Health Ministry and the National Public Health Institute (NPHIL) as means of prevention against the pandemic.
He said the County Health Team and local authorities have already begun jointly carrying out awareness activities on COVID-19 in Grand Kru County.

Mr. Lawubah also mentioned that 25 security personnel of the Liberia National Police, the Drug Enforcement Agency and the Liberia Immigration Service, have received awareness and prevention training in the county.

The training supported by the Internal Affairs Ministry, also centered on the use of thermometers donated by County Superintendent Superintendent Doris Ylatun.
