ZWEDTU, Liberia- The County Health Officer (CHO) of the southeasternGrand Gedeh County, Dr. Tebo Boduo has clarified that citizens are adjusting to the new health regulations put in place health authorities regarding the drug revolving fund-a cost-sharing scheme.
Under the scheme, patients using public health facilities will be required to pay a minimum amount for drugs supplied to them during treatment.
This comes in the wake of the serious lack of drugs in government-run hospitals and clinics.
Recently, Liberian health authorities saw the need to introduce the drug revolving fund, a cost-sharing scheme in the health sector.
Dr. Boduo spelled out the adjustment in the cost of drugs, revealing the following: LD$100 and LD$200 for registration fees for children from 5-15 years; and adult from 16 and has been introduced respectively.
The Grand Gedeh County Health Officer said that citizens are adjusting to the new system at the various public health facilities in the county.
Meanwhile, there is a shortage of health workers at Martha Tubman Memorial Hospital in Zwedru and other health facilities in Grand Gedeh County.
Dr. Boduo has also called on citizens and residents of the County to continue to observe the health protocols of COVID-19.
