Amid Rise In Crimes, Margibi Community Watch Forum Gets Support From Lawmaker

KAKATA, Liberia- In the wake of the rising crime rate across the country, members of the Community Watch Forum (CWF) in District #5 Margibi County have all reason to smile because they have received one of the biggest donation ever.

Over the weekend, Rep. Clarence G. Gahr presented to the group six hundred thousand Liberian dollars, two new Motorbikes and two walkie talkies respectively.

Making the presentation to the group in the auditorium of the Weala Public School on Saturday,, September 12, 2020; Hon. Gahr said the gesture was in fulfillment of his promise to the forum.

Additionally, the Representative said the gesture is intended to boost the efforts of members of the forum who continue to sacrifice on a daily basis.

According to him, this shows his commitment in insuring that the importance of the group be reflected at the district, the county and the national levels.

Cash donation from Rep Gahr 

“I have come today in fulfillment of my commitment to you, not only because of what we are going to be presenting today; but this shows that our commitment in insuring that your importance be reflected both district level, county level and national level,” the Margibi Lawmaker saidl.

“We have come again to reiterate our commitment in insuring that the sacrifices you have made over the years will never be in vein,” he stated.

Rep. Gahr said he chose to move faster in making sure that he commit himself to the promise he made.

The Lawmaker revealed that on the national scene, huge attention is being drawn to the joint security for the government to provide more resources to the sector in order for the Country to remain peaceful during the pending midterm Senatorial election.

He stated that his district being underprivileged to have more manpower (security personnel), he thought it wise to work with members of the Forum who are sacrificing to be able to provide security for the district, the county and the country at large.

The Lawmaker on the other hand said the two pieces of walkie-talkies are meant to enable members of the forum to have access to Communication in area where there is no network promising to provide more but based on the group request.

He urged the Community Watch Forum members to exercise professionalism and neutrality while carrying out their duties.

For his part, the Chairman of the Community Watch Forum in Liberia, Nyantee Koffey lauded Rep. Gahr for the gesture.

He also called on national government to have the CWF place in the national budget.
