VOINJAMA, Liberia- A daylong interactive conference for criminal justice actors and community members over the weekend took place in Voinjama city, Lofa County.
The daylong conference which brought together 27 participants was organized by Camp for Peace Liberia under its Community Justice Advisor Project funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency through the Carter Center.

Giving an overview of the project at the start of the conference, Camp for Peace Project Manager Jefferson Weafar disclosed that the CAMP FOR PEACE community Justice Advisor project is currently being implemented in the seven administrative districts of the county to include Salayea, Zorzor, Voinjama, Quardu Gbondi, Kolahun, Vahun, and Foya.
He said the daylong conference was aimed at enhancing information shearing related to the rule of law and access to justice as well as fostering partnership and strengthening coordination amongst justice actors including traditional and community leaders.
At the end of the conference it is expected that, community leaders and justice actors will also be empowered to formulate informed decisions and requests that hold public officials accountable for their commitments and action to the criminal justice system of Liberia.
Mr. Weafar said this is while seeking to build peace, prevent conflict, and promote adherence to the rule across the county.
Voinjama District Commissioner Hon. Albert Salee
Also speaking at the opening of the training, Voinjama district commissioner Albert Salee commanded the carter center through CAMP FOR PEACE Liberia for their efforts in ensuring that peace is sustain across the county.
Commissioner Salee also underscored the need for an extension of the project duration due to the possible impact from the CJAs especially in his district
Camp for Peace Liberia assigned community justice advisors have over the months engaged several communities across the county by providing citizens with information on their rights and responsibilities under the law while at the same time helping communities to resolve civil cases through mediation processes.
During these community engagements Camp for Peace Liberia Community Justice Advisors are also involved in providing adequate and effective awareness and education on the deadly COVID 19 variant that currently tolls the Liberia society.
