CARI pays aggrieved contractors, following Go Slow action

After protest by aggrieved contractors at the Central Agriculture Research Institute (CARI) in Suakoko, Bong County, the management has begun paying them their wages.

As a result, normal work began Thursday morning, after the workers ended their go slow action as they began getting their pay late Wednesday evening.

Normal working activities was early Wednesday disrupted at the Central Agriculture Research Institute (CARI) near Liberia’s central city of Gbarnga, as a number of aggrieved contractors stormed the main offices.

The aggrieved   Contractors who were in demand of their salary for the month of August staged the go slow for several hours on the main Compound of CARI preventing activities at the Agriculture Research Institute.

The contractors, some of whom have been working with CARI for a long period, were also demanding increment in salary and permanent employment.

The Director General of CARI Dr. Marcus had admitted that management owed the contractors, and all formalities to ensure they receive their monies were completed but blamed the bank for the delay.
