Students at the Cuttington University and the Bong County Technical College in Liberia’s central Bong County are to shortly benefit from free internet service, Liberia’s Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor has disclosed.

According to a press release from her office over the weekend, VP Taylor said arrangements were being concluded with Orange-Liberia to begin the provision of free internet service   to the two higher institutions of learning in that area.

CU is a private university operated by the Episcopal Church in Liberia, while the Bong Technical College is a government-run institution.

The initiative is in fulfillment of an earlier promise made by the Vice President when she donated fuel and cash to Cuttington University as part of efforts to remedy financial constraints facing the University.

When fully installed, Vice President Taylor’s office says the internet service will be provided to the two campuses on a free of charge basis for one year.

The VP is therefore lauding Orange Liberia for the partnership, saying that the internet service is currently being installed to ensure that the students and Staff have access to the service shortly.

The release quoted the Liberian Vice President as emphasizing that the free internet service will ensure that the   faculty and students of the two institutions use information resources available on the Internet.
