Weeping and mourning has covered the Dahnlorpa Community, a suburb  of Sanniquallie city in Liberia’s northeastern Nimba County, as the bodies of five children killed by lightning strike have laid to rest.

Early Saturday evening (October 30, 2021) the Dahnlorpa Community was a place of great sad ess, as  five children were stuck by lightning ,after a heavy down pour of rain,  while three are on critical list at the G.W. Harley health facility in Sanniquallie.

But family members of the victims have promised to speak to the media on Monday November 1, 2021 about the said incident of their grandchildren and children.

The victims were buried in a mass grave at the Dahnlorpa Community cemetery today, Sunday, October 31, 2021.

Of the five victims, three are females and two males.

Locals are speculating as to whether it was normal or has connection to some witchcraft activities, a traditional suspicion that is deeply entrenched in rural Liberia over such a happening.

According to the reports, four died instantly and one died upon arrival at the  G. W. Harley health facility in Sanniquallie City Nimba County.

The other three children hit by Saturday’s lightning strike are said to be in critical condition and they are all said to be grandchildren of the father of the Manager of the local Community Radio Sehnwai in Sanniquellie City.

When the lightning struck, some of the children were said to be playing, while the others were waiting for the rain to subside in front of a mobile phone charging booth very close to their house.

The children ages range from four to six.
