Judge Yamie Gbeisay Faces Senate Confirmation Hearing For Associate Justice

The confirmation hearing of Judge Yamie Quiqui Gbeisay, who was recently nominated by President George M. Weah, is expected to commence next Monday, October 24,2022 at the Liberian Senate.

President Weah nominated Judge Gbeisay on September 7,2022 as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Liberia, with the vacancy on the bench due to the retirement of former Chief Justice Francis Korkpor and the elevation of Associate Justice Yuoh to the post of Chief Justice.

Judge Gbeisay was appointed along with Mrs. Sarah B. Fyneah, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Permanent Representative of Liberia to the United Nations and all its organs, and with non-resident concurrent accreditation to Brazil and Cuba.

Judge Gbeisay qualified with long experience

However, Judge Yarmie Gbeisay is a qualified jurist who had practiced law for over two decades.

He is a1998 graduate of Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law at the University of Liberia, who has been a Counsellor-At-Law since 2002.

September 24 this year will make it seven years since Judge Gbeisay was appointed judge, making it 24 years since he has been in the legal practice.

Judge Gbeisay is Married to Mrs. Mickey R. T. Gbeisay with seven children.
