Liberia Records 4 Deaths In Three Days From Coronavirus

Monrovia- Liberia has recorded four deaths from COVID-19 in three days, report released by the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) reveals,

Health authorities earlier this week disclosed that three COVID-19 variants are circulating in this country–B.1.1.7 known as the Alpha variant from the U.K; B.1.525 and B. 1.1.318.

As this West African country battles the third COVID-19 wave, Update from NPHIL shows that between July 13-16, 2021, four persons died of the pandemic, while there were 37 new recoveries.

During the period, the total deaths rose from 144 to 148.

Since the last stats was published on Thursday, July 15, 2021, NPHIL has not released any new Update up to today, Saturday, July 17, 2020 (by 9Pm GMT) when this story went to press.

So far, 14 of Liberia’s 15 counties have been hit by the Virus and the county until now spared of being in response is the southeastern Grand Kru County,

To date, there is a total of 2,462 active confirmed Coronavirus cases in Liberia, with total confirmed cases hitting 5,315.

Liberia has run out of the first batch of COVID-19 vaccines brought under the COVAX international arrangement supervised by the World Health Organization *WHO). Some 86,000 doses of the AstraZena jab were brought in and health officials say a new batch of vaccines is due to arrive here some time in July.
