SPORTS: Momo Blamo Clinched Top Goal Scorer Award In His Debut Season

It seems to be a dream come true for youngster Momo Blamo, as he has won another accolade in his soccer journey– his debut season of the 2nd top-tier of Liberia, the Orange National League-2nd Division in Liberia.

Blamo, Tony FC’s prolific goal scoring machine finished the 2022/23 Orange Second Division league season as the top scorer in his first season.

This rising star joined Tony FC from Upper-Margibi County third division club FC Quincy during the start of the 2022-2023 new season, where he penned a two-year deal with Tony FC after a mouthwatering deal from FC Quincy.

The former Golden Boot winner of the LFA- Margibi County SubAssociation Third Division League Blamo enjoyed a good start to life with his new employer Tony FC as he notched 29 goals in 27 league matches for club.

The Margibi County forward Blamo drew the attention on the national scene in such a bigger competition since he arrived as he went on to clinch his first golden boot award in the second-division league.

Blamo went on to surpass former golden boot winner, mentee and teammate, Abraham Kamara’s 28 goals record to win such award previously.

This young and upcoming star becomes the first player in his debut season for Tony FC to notch 30 goals in all competitions, becoming the team’s top goal scorer and to also clinch such prestigious individual award.

Blamo scored 30 goals in all competition for club Tony FC with 29 in the league and 1 in the Orange Cup in 28 appearances for club in all competition.

Despite scoring 29 goals in the league Blamo registered five (5) hat-tricks to climax the league season.

He is now the second player in a row for Tony FC to win such award with Abraham Kamara becoming the first to clinch such accolade.

The 2022-2023 Orange National League-2nd Division top goal scorer, Blamo becomes the third Margibi County player to win the Orange Second division league top scorer award in succession following the likes of Ousman Kamara who won it in the 2020/21 league season and Abraham Kamara who also won it in the 2021/22 league season as well.

About Momo Blamo, alias “Psalm David”:

Momo Blamo is a footballer who plays his club football for Tony FC in the Orange National League-2nd Division. Blamo has had several spell with clubs in Margibi County which include Young Pro B, Momo United, Feel United, Fuamah FC and FC Quincy.  

About the individual award:

Blamo becomes the first player from the Upper Margibi to clinch the golden boot of the top-tier league of Margibi County with him registering 17 league goals. He also becomes the first player to win back-to-back golden boot of the two editions of the Margibi County Inter-District League.

In addition, Blamo is a one-time top goal scorer and MVP of the YMCA Inter- Schools Football Competition Held in Kakata, under the auspices of the YMCA where the young lad and his teammates set the Scorpions Kingdom of St. Augustine Episcopal Mission High School on the map where they were a force to rub shoulder with.

Blamo represented Bong and Margibi County in the nation’s most talked-about festival the National County Sports Meet where he has won three third-place medals and a runner-up medal with Margibi County. 

About the Championship:

Blamo has never won a league championship in Margibi County but only able to clinched runner-up in such competition during his last spell with FC Quincy where he helped the club qualify for its first ever National Third Division Regional Playoff and Promotional Playoff.
