A Liberian woman with eight children, who is battling breast cancer, says she’s dying and she’s making an SOS call for urgent assistance to enable her undergo surgery.
Madam Massa Perry, says she doesn’t know the cost of the surgery, but a local Doctor has advised that, while awaiting the surgery she should take some prescribed medication, but even that she has no money to buy.
Breast and cervical cancers are said to be on the rise in Liberia.
Dr. Fred Amegashie, Director, Non-Communicable Diseases Division, Ministry of Health said cervical cancer is the most common cancer among women with an estimated 366 new cases annually, according to a World Health Organization (WHO) report..
She says her family cannot afford to buy the prescribed drug which cost over Eight Hundred United States Dollars for one of the Three Sets of drugs.
In an interview with her over the weekend, Madam Perry called on philanthropists, NGOs and the Liberian government advanced medical attention in Liberia or abroad.
