At the end of Muslim’s Holy Month of Ramadan, the Grand Motif of Liberia has expressed optimism that the stalemate in the House of Representatives will end peacefully with the pending ruling of the Supreme Court of Liberia.

Sheik Abubakar Sumaworo said the lawmakers at the House of Representatives will have to accept the decision of the Supreme Court because the Liberian people look to that institution as the right body to resolve the impasse at the lower house.

Sheik Sumaworo was speaking delivered the sermon marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan at the Gurley Street Mosques in Monrovia on Sunday.

Sheik Sumaworo cautioned members of the House of Representatives to work in unity so as to move the country forward rather than spending their times in legal dispute.

Meanwhile, the former Chairman of the National Muslim Council of Liberia says the prolongation of the conflict over the speakership is creating a negative image on the country.

Sheik Abdulai Massaley encouraged the members of the House of Representatives to put aside their selfish desire and put Liberia first by respecting the rules that govern them.

Speaking in an interview with this Reporter shortly after delivering the sermon marking the end of Ramadan at the Fatima Mosque in Clara Town on Sunday, March 30, 2025, Sheik Massaley said the members of the House of Representatives are losing the respect of the Liberian people.

According to Sheik Massaley, some members of the House of Representatives have demonstrated that they are not good role models.
