A women Group under the banner, ECOWAS Woman and Youth Wing early Wednesday morning (July 22, 2020), staged a peaceful protest at the Temple of Justice in Monrovia demanding Justice for one of their members.

Speaking with the victim, Mariama Sheriff told Reporters that since May 21,2018, she was allegedly mercilessly beaten and wounded by an officer of the Liberia National Police identified as Emmanuel Sieh on witchcraft allegation.

Victim Sheriff explained that she was sleeping at about 4-5 am on May 21,2020, official Sieh Criminally entered into her apartment to steal. But she wasn’t sleeping at the time and since the alleged defendant knew that she was not sleeping, he decided to sweep.

While he was sweeping her apartment, she asked him not to sweep her apartment but the alleged Officer began beating with the broom and later used stick and knife to wound her.

When the Officer allegedly wounded her, her neighbors decided to inquire about the situation but the first person who to her rescue was also beaten and wounded by officer Sieh of the Liberia National Police.

Madam Sheriff also claimed that the LNP Officer is also involved with power theft and a Criminal who usually cut off their current when they are ready to carry out their Criminal behavior.

According to her, even administrative action was taken the officer Emmanuel Sieh by the LNP who suspended him for eleven months without pay but the severity of wound she sustained, the eleven months suspension was sufficien.

But she rather took the matter at the Monrovia City Court but since the alleged suspect has been disrespecting court by not appearing to answer to his criminal charges.

Whenever the matter is assigned, he doesn’t go to the Court for the hearing, something that prompted their actions to protest on the Court ground, she further explained.

Meanwhile, the head of the group known as Duffy Michelle Hussain said would turn the alleged police officer Emmanuel Sieh and all documents relating to the investigation over to the court, but refused to do.

They also engaged the Ministry of Justice to bring the perpetrator to book but to no avail therefore they are left with no alternative but to protest on the court ground to call the attention of the relevant authories to give them Justice.

If Justice is not served them, she said they will continue to Match for Justice adding that police officer who should be protecting lives and properties are the main perpetrators of crimes nowadays.
