Grand Kru County Administration Unveils Several Development Projects

The administration of Grand Kru County has unveiled details of several ongoing projects that are being funded by the Liberian government through the County Development Fund.

According to Grand Kru County Development Officer, Joe Sekpeh, these development initiatives are aimed at enhancing community welfare and improving infrastructures of the County.

He said that the County’s administration was working within an estimated budget of US$186,000 received from the government through the Ministry of Finance, and Development Planning as County Development Fund, which is added to the total amount brought forward from previous administration of US$40,000.00 and LRD $21,000000.

The development projects he named are Renovations the Superintendent Compound, County Administrative Building, Barclayville City Hall, Completion of Parluken Administrative Building, Completion of the Norkia Clinic in Jora and the Completion of the Youth Center in Barclayville.

Others include; the Construction of 8 new Hand Pumps and the Rehabilitation of 16 Hand Pumps in the eight (8) Districts, and the layout of Barclayville City are as priorities of the County Administration being captured under the 2024 fiscal budget.

Speaking to this Reporter via telephone interview on Tuesday, April 30,2025, Grand Kru Development Officer thanked President Joseph N. Boakai for exerting a strong commitment in supporting the developments of Grand Kru and the entire Southeastern Region of Liberia.

At the same time, Mr. Sekpeh has disclosed that the Central Government through the County Administration has put up a bid for the rehabilitation of additional roads in the County to include, Buah to Greenville Sinoe County Road, Buah to Kaweanken, River Gee Counties respectively to positively address the challenging situation of farm to market roads in the Southeastern region.

In same vein, the Ghana Community in Grand Kru County donated one drum of fuel and ten bags of 25 kg rice to the County Administration as part of it support to enhancing the ongoing project of Barclayville City Streets. As part of mobilizing additional resources, other prominent citizens have started to pour in with moral and financial contributions.

The Grand Kru Development Officer was sharp enough to recognize the tremendous efforts and support of the County Legislative Caucus towards the developmental advancements of the County.

Speaking further, Joe Sekpeh said that with the exception of the County Development Fund, the Caucus has committed huge financial commitment toward the project, especially the laying out of the principal streets of Barclayville.

He emphasized that the government is keen on bettering the lives of every Liberian and as such, the citizens of Grand Kru should be willing at all times to collaborate with various government institutions at the local level, including development partners to advance development in a positive direction.

Meanwhile, the County Development Chief extolled citizens for their reliance and commitment toward development initiatives in Grand Kru.
