MONROVIA (LINA) – The Liberia News Agency (LINA) has concluded a cooperation and partnership agreement with its South Korean counterpart the YONHAP News Agency to promote the distribution of news services and other related media contents between the two institutions.
The bilateral agreement between the two news agencies will allow the parties to write articles for the purpose of promoting the image of their country and distribute them to other countries.
The agreement was consummated by LINA and YONHAP on April 21, 2025. The Director General of the Liberia News Agency, A. Trokon Tarr, signed on behalf of LINA while Mr. Hwang Dias – II, President and CEO of YONHAP News Agency, signed on behalf of his institution.
As per the agreement, the two institutions will supply articles with specific focus on themes that include mutual exchange between the two countries, business, economy, culture, travel, arts and history, but exclude sensitive issues such as domestic political affairs, etc.
LINA and YONHAP have also agreed to use reasonable endeavors in giving special attention to national events, conferences and important national, regional and international meetings of the other party in terms of news coverage and photos.
Additionally, the two news agencies agreed to promote the exchange of experience and mutual visits as well as experience in journalism, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), marketing and documentation and training for administrative staff in order to strengthen cooperation between LINA and YONHAP.
