Bong County Service Center Raises LD$2M And US$980.00 in One Month

-Though staff have not been paid for the past three months

GBARNGA, Liberia-The Bong County Service Center, set up by government years ago to decentralize basic service through the Liberia Revenue Authority, has generated a total revenue of Two Million Twenty-One Thousand Liberian dollars and US$980.00 in November 2019 alone, the Center’s Coordinator has disclosed.

Addressing a press conference in the central city of Gbarnga recently, the Coordinator of the Service Center, Jefferson Gbaryan said the amount was generated in the Month of November 2019.

He said the total end users accounted for Three Hundred and Sixty-Nine (369), adding that Two Hundred and Fifty-seven (257) are male, One Hundred (100) are female and Twelve (12) couples.

Mr. Gbaryan said out of the Three Hundred and Sixty-Nine end user they were able to get Two Million Twenty-One Thousand, Three Hundred Forty-Four Dollars Ninety- Six cent Liberia Dollars out of the amount, the Ministry of Transport  raised the amount one million two hundred sixty-one thousand  nine hundred fifty-five Liberian dollars and  six hundred and eighty United States Dollars. This was followed by the Ministry of Education which  generated two hundred and fifty-three thousand Liberian Dollars, while the Ministry of Commerce generated  two hundred thirty-one thousand nine hundred Liberian Dollars.

The Bong County Service Center boss further said since the establishment Center they have not been able to effort services like the ECOWAS Biometric Identification Cards, Adult Birth Certificates, Ministry of Post and Telecommunication, Forestry Development Authority, Printing of Drivers Licenses, Western Marriage Certificates and the Alternative Medicine and Divorce Certificates, respectively.

Mr. Gbaryan is meanwhile calling on the national government to provide the Center with a Utility Vehicle in other to enhance the work of the Service Center at the community level.

He wants the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to decentralize the printing of certificate in the county at the county Service Center for the consumption of the end user.

The Ministry of Land Mines and Energy has also been asked to add the services of the Ministry to the ones provided by the County Service Center for more income generation.  

Mr. Gbaryan further said that there is a serious need that allotment from the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning be in time so as to allow then as Coordinators be able to comply with their support Staff at the County Service Center.

According to him, for the past three months, they haven’t received salary from national government, something he said is undermining their working naming the  lack of stationery as some difficulty being faced.
