As part of its Democratic Governance Project, the Liberia Media Center (LMC) will this month begin immediate tracking of the “150 Day Deliverables of the CDC government,” a press release from the LMC said on Sunday.
The 150 days deliverables are an integral part of the government of Liberia’s Pro-Poor Agenda.
The Liberia Media Center (LMC) is a subsidiary of the Press Union of Liberia (PUL).
LMC’s release, signed by its new Executive Director S. Kpanbayeazee Duworko, says the purpose of the tracking of deliverables is to ensure that the Coalition for Democratic Change government fulfills its promises to Liberians.
The exercise will be carried out in the fifteen (15) counties of Liberia. The tracking of the 150 Day Deliverables is a self-sponsored initiative by the LMC and constitutes Phase I of the organization’s Democratic Governance Project.
The project will be implemented through media monitoring and the use of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Law. After the 150 days, a report will be issued by the LMC.
The LMC is calling on all national and local authorities across the country to please cooperate with its monitors because the government has a social contract to Liberians.
At the same time the LMC says while it welcomes President George Weah and few officials in the Executive Branch of the Liberian government slicing their salaries and benefits by twenty-five percent (25%), the exercise should be holistic.
The LMC believes that the cut in salaries and benefits should affect the three branches of government and funds saved should be used to provide basic social services to Liberians.
