Boy, 15 Allegedly Commits Suicide In Grand Bassa County, Liberia

BUCHANAN, Liberia- Reports reaching this port city from Wee Statutory district say, a boy believed to be 15 identified as Faith Jacob has allegedly committed suicide, but circumstances surrounding the situation are unclear.

The incident, which took many residents of the area by surprise, reportedly happened in district #4, Central Wayzohn Community, Grand Bassa County, which is situated over 173 kilometers southeast of Monrovia.

The victim’s body was discovered early Tuesday Morning by some residents of the area who raised the alarm and immediately contacted officers of the Liberia National Police to investigate.

According to reports, Little Faith Jacob allegedly used a red tiny rope to hang himself at the back of a house on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, a day after Liberia celebrated her 174th Independence anniversary.

Police rushed to the scene after the incident and health personnel later pronounced the teenage boy dead.

Grieving relatives and community residents in a state of shock 

Circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear. But police officers have assured the grieving families and others that they will properly investigate the unfortunate incident to establish the facts and ensure justice.

Residents of the area, who could not hold back their tears, expressed deep frustration and concern about what could have possibly caused this child to have destroyed his precious life.

Others said that they were surprised and completely broken down when the corpse of this kid was discovered, as they demand that the Police conduct an immediate and credible investigation into this unfortunate incident to ensure justice for him.

Meanwhile, the Liberia National Police has announce it has launched a prompt investigation into the circumstances and called on the public to remain calm.

To assist with the investigation, the Police say they’ll invite some individuals of interest for questioning.
