Some citizens of Lofa County in Solidarity with former Defense Minister Samukai say they will on Monday gathering at the grounds of the National Election Commission, demanding the certification of the declared winner of the County’s Senatorial seat, Brownie J. Samukai.
The group said it has resolved to gather on the grounds of the NEC this Monday in demand for the certification of its senator-elect Samukai until their demand are meant.
According to the group, it will do all it takes to protect the people choisen senator by their sweat and blood when necessary in defense and support of its senator elect Samukai.
“Recently, the National Election Commission certificated Senator Edwin Snow of Bomi and Zoe Pennuel of Grand Gedeh County 24 hours after the Supreme court ruling, against this backdrop, we will demanding the Commission to this Monday certificate Lofa County elect Brownie Samukai,” the group said.
Speaking over the weekend at the new conference in Paynesville, the citizens of Lofa County in Solidarity with Brownie Samukai official spokesperson Forkpa Gizie call on all patriotic and true citizens of Lofa, friends from Nimba and all peace loving people of Liberia to turn out in mass to witness the certification of Senate Brownie Samuakai by the National Election Commission on Monday, March 1, 2021.
After the Supreme court ruling and the intervention by the Liberian senate, the National Election Commission is yet to announce a date for the certification of senator elect Brownie Samuakai.
“Fellow Liberians, today it is Lofa county, tomorrow don’t be surprised come 2023, we say enough is enough. We will make use of our constitutional rights of unhindered representation in the governance structure of our country,” Mr. Gizie noted.
“We to repeat that we are more than prepared to defend our votes with our sweat and even our blood if need be” He said.
Meanwhile, the group has commended the Liberia senate, citizen and supporters including the media for condemning in the strongest term the move by government to breach the constitution.
“The leadership and members of the friends of senator elect Brownie J. Samukai of Lofa County unpretentiously appreciate the honorable house of Senate, the citizens of Liberia, our supporters from Nimba and other good citizens and the media for condemning in the strongest term the move by this government to breach the constitution of our mother land,” Forkpa noted.
According to him, the action by the Solicitor General backed by his boss Cllr. Musa Dean is not only reckless and irresponsible but has the propensity to ignite violence in the country.
