She Describes Attack On Former Chief Justice Gloria Scott And Killing Of Her Daughter As “Abhorrent”

Former Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has condemned this week’s attack on former Chief Justice Gloria Scott which resulted into the killing of her young daughter.
The daughter of Justice Scott bled to death after being stabbed multiple times by a male attacker who had entered their home. Another daughter of Cllr. Scott sustained injury from a similar attack on Wednesday night.
In her Twitter post today, Saturday, February 25, 2023, former President Sirleaf condemned “the killing of innocent civilians in Liberia.”
“The recent attacks on Cllr. Gloria Musu Scott, and the killing of innocent civilians in Liberia, including Ms. Scott’s daughter, are abhorrent. We must all condemn these actions, men and women alike; they have no place in our society.”
The latest attack on the home of the former Chief Justice comes amid a string of attacks by robbers in various communities some of them carrying knives, cutlasses and even guns sparking fear of insecurity in various communities.
The homes of several Judges have not been spared from attack without the perpetrators brought to book in recent times.
According to information gathered, former Chief Justice Scott made formal complaints of her attack which took place both February 8 and 9 2023 without any action taken by the Liberian National Police.
It can be recalled that in 2021, an Immigration officer Maude Elliott and William Richard Tolbert were killed in their respective homes but to date, no one has been arrested or link to the killing.

But the Liberian leader has repeatedly boasted that his CDC government has performed well in protecting women and girls and battling Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) in Liberia.
Council of Churches condemns attack calling for immediate investigation
At the same time, the Liberia Council of Churches (LCC) has also strongly condemned the attack on the home of the former Chief Justice Scott.
LCC President, Rev. Dr. Samuel Reeves has called for an immediate investigation in to the attack on the home of the former Chief Justice by the Ministry of Justice and the Liberia National Police.
Addressing a pressing in Monrovia at the weekend, Rev. Reeves said it is troubling to be seeing attack on the homes of peaceful Liberia just few months leading to the holding of presidential and legislative elections later this year.
The Liberia Council of Churches President has expressed condolence to the bereaved family of former Chief Justice Scott and assured the family that the LCC will stand with her in the times of uncertainty.
