Former RAL Leadership press release

Good morning colleagues of the media. We want to thank you for accepting our invite at a short notice, we appreciate you for that. Life has its own ups and downs, people say things intended to tarnish your hard earned reputation that you have built over the years.

At times, you respond to some of those things and allow some to just pass as they come. From being a reporter in the field /newsroom to assuming the position as the first elected female president of the Reporters Association of Liberia, and serving diligently for three years whilst being undermined, did not come on a silver platter; it was merited. Colleagues of the media, our attention has been drawn to the recent press statement by the Willie Tokpah leadership.

In that statement, the current leadership accused the past leadership of not providing turnover notes and a financial statement from the past leadership. We have come here today to the clarify that the assertions made by Willie Tokpah and his team is erroneous and we termed it as a hard degree of unprofessionalism.

Let it be known that during the induction ceremony about a month plus ago, we turned over all documents over to Willie and his team. Those documents included the bank books, communications received from institutions, stamps, membership forms, receipts of things we bought during our administration, deposit and withdrawal slips among others. About two weeks back, Augustine Saah called me in relations to changing the signatures of RAL bank accounts.

He and I discussed prior to my departure to Dubai and I mandated the former SG to write the letter in that regard which he did. Upon my return, colleagues of the media, I was taken aback when friends started calling me about RAL’s account and turnover note. Let Willie know that as a leader, you have to be professional at all times and I advise he deactivates himself from campaign mood and do the work he was elected to do. “We are in no competition, Willie”.

Willie and his team could have called me or Mark to make a follow up. That, they did not do but decided to go public with something we have already had discussion about. Let me also remind you that you were the “Vice president” in the same leadership you bend on bringing to public ridicule. Isn’t that shooting oneself in the leg? Finally, like I said letter requesting for change of RAL’s bank accounts signatures has been prepared long time ago, Willie and his team members will come for it once they (Willie and his deputies ) are ready.

Thanks to all of you. February 20,2023
