At Harper hospital: Malnourished patients’ peanut butter theft case takes new turn

Five health workers of the J.J. Dossen hospital in Liberia’s southeastern Maryland County, who were jailed for allegedly stealing peanut butter intended for malnourished persons, have been released on a surity property bond.

The property is valued at US$18,000.00 and the bond filed was criminal appearance bond.

The five health workers collectively filed the criminal appearance bond and the case is scheduled for hearing before the Magisterial Court on May 22, 2019.

The thirty-four cartoons of peanut butter are estimated at US$3,000,612.85 or  LD$300,60,000.

Those released are Anthony G. Elliot, Audrey M. Cole, P. Yuah Johnson, Richard G. Davis and George S. Dokie.

Recently, the five health workers from the J.J. Dossen Hospital arrested and detained and sent to court for allegedly stealing thirty-four cartoons of malnourished peanut butter.

The court released thirty-three cartoons of the malnourished peanut butter due to urgent need for the hospital.

The five health workers were arrested last Tuesday evening in Harper, Maryland County.

They allegedly stole the thirty-four cartoons of the peanut butter intended for malnourished from the hospital compound, using the ambulance in the name of transporting drugs to an unknown destination.

But Maryland County Health officer and police officers got tipoff from some community members.
