The Johns Hopkins Suburban Hospital in Maryland, USA has been commended for donating an ultra sound machine to a local hospital in Liberia, the Divine Joy Community Clinic in New Georgia-Caldwell, Montserrado County valued at US$18,000.00.
The Officer-In-Charge of the clinic, Alpha Sheriff hailed the US medical institution saying: “we have been sending most of our patients for ultra sound equipment. Today I am pleased that we have ultra sound.”
Mr. Sheriff said those in need of ultra sound related services no longer have to go long distances, as they can now begin making use of their own equipment.
He then assured the Johns Hopkins Hospital that the machine would be properly managed and used for the intended purpose.
For her part, the Administrator of the Clinic Sapphira Toby said they were happy to receive the machine from their donor, terming the goodwill gesture as the beginning of their partnership.
He also described the donation as the first of its kind since the clinic was established, recalling how their heath center have been referring distant facilities for treatment.
Further underscoring the essence of the ultra sound equipment, she revealed that it is s facility the clinic urgently needs to operate.
According to her, Johns Hopkins Suburban Hospital is the first institution that has given support to the Divine Joy Community Clinic thereby praying that the donation be a continuous process.
Speaking earlier, the Proprietor of the Clinic Mr. Moses Toby, Sr. said the donation followed an invitation extended him in 2017 by a Liberian to visit the U.S., at which time he was privileged to highlight the plight of their clinic in Liberia to the Johns Hopkins Hospital in the U.S.
He said he outlined challenges the facility is faced with and expressed the need for support.
Mr. Toby also said the Johns Hopkins Hospital assured they would support the clininc in Liberia but through Arthur Doe, the man that invited him.
