LRA Bids Farewell To Domestic Tax Commissioner Darlingston Talery

Monrovia-– The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) has bided a heartfelt farewell to Commissioner Darlingston Y. Talery, recognizing his exceptional contributions to the agency’s mission during his tenure as Commissioner for Domestic Tax, a press release said this week.

Commissioner General James Dorbor Jallah, addressing the gathering at a farewell ceremony in Paynesville, commended Mr. Talery for his unwavering professionalism and integrity, urging LRA staff to mirror his exemplary qualities in their service.

Mr. Talery, described as a beacon of tolerance and patience in the tax profession, has dedicated his career to elevating domestic revenue mobilization in Liberia. CG Jallah presented him with a plaque and tokens of appreciation, symbolizing the agency’s gratitude for his service and wishing him success in his future endeavors within the subregion.

Having served since the inception of the LRA in 2014, Mr. Talery’s leadership of the Domestic Tax Department has been pivotal in the agency’s achievement of over US$4 billion in domestic revenue collection over nearly a decade. Under his guidance, annual revenue intake for the department surged from US$200 million in 2014 to over US$400 million in 2023.

During the farewell dinner, representatives from various taxpayer entities, including the Liberia Institute of Tax Practitioners, ArcelorMittal, and Firestone Liberia, expressed their appreciation for Mr. Talery’s professionalism, tolerance, and patience in dealings with taxpayers of all categories.

Graciously acknowledging the support received from Team LRA, Mr. Talery encouraged staff to uphold professionalism, transparency, and dedication in revenue collection, emphasizing its crucial role in Liberia’s development. He expressed optimism that the LRA could surpass the one billion United States dollars mark, further contributing to the nation’s progress.

The LRA will remember Commissioner Talery as he embarks on his new professional journey, confident that his legacy of excellence will continue to inspire future endeavors.
