Man admits killing 22-yr-old fiancée for allegedly having extra affair

GBARNGA Liberia- Police in the central city of Gbarnga has charged and sent to court a 25-year-old man, Kermue Sumo for allegedly murdering his fiancée, Kelemah Jerry, age 22 last week.

The incident happened in the vicinity of Gbanay Town in Yellequelleh District #5 in Bong County.

According to Inspector John K. Flomo of the Liberia National Police Bong Detachment, suspect Kermue on Thursday September 12, 2019 murdered his girlfriend, Ms. Jerry on their okra farm.

The Police Inspector said after Kermue Sumo committed the crime, a 15-member jury was set up.

Inspector Flomo told this Reporter that the jury report shows that suspect Kermue Sumo mobbed his (7) seven years baby mother with a stick on her head in Gbanay Yellequelleh District.

He said after suspect Sumo murdered Kelemah Jerry escaped in the bush for rescue but was later on apprehended by several citizens of nearby towns and villages in the District.

Suspect Kelemah Jerry is expected to be sent to court for trial this week, according to Inspector John Keleso Flomo.

Speaking from the Police station in Gbarnga, suspect Sumo admitted to the commission of the crime.

According to him, he suspected his baby mother having an extra affair with another person in the town and threatened to kill the man with poison.

Suspect Kermue Sumo is meanwhile pleading for (20) twenty years in prison for the crime committed.

He believes spending (20) twenty years in prison will reform him.

Sumo said the killing of Kelemah was also due to a drug he took for the first time in the village.

The Gbanay young farmer explained that he purchased the drug from a strange person that normally visits the town.     

The Yellequelleh District son is at the same time urging youths of the County to deist from the intake of harmful substances.

“Harmful substances make young people to do bad things, such as robbing and killing” Sumo added.

Some women of Gbarnga who spoke to our reporter in Bong County expressed total dissatisfaction in the killing of women and girls in the County.

The angry women narrated that women and girls in Bong County are currently living in fear, because of the constant killing by their husbands and boyfriends.
