Police Allegedly Beat Truck Conductor To Death In Monrovia

The Liberian police spokesman, Moses Carter has confirmed the beating and killing of a truck Conductor, Alieu Shriff by an officers of the national police identified only as Sackor in a Monrovia suburb.

Officer Sackor along with other officers assigned at Zone four LPRC deport, who reportedly beat the man, are currently undergoing investigation by the professional standard Division of the LNP for their alleged involvement into the killing of the truck driver.

In a phone interview, police spokesperson Moses Carter said his officers were inspecting vehicles in the street that are not road worthy early this morning.

The LNP spokesperson explained that all officers who were on the scene when the incident occurred are being subjected to investigation by the Professional standard Division of the LNP and they were asked to provide statements on what has occurred.

For his part, driver of the truck, which transport sand, Sakou Kromah said the victim who was allegedly killed was his conductor on the truck.

How the worse happened

According to Mr. Kromah, early this morning, they were on their way to work when they reached at the NTA building intersection, they were stopped by police officer Sacker where he was asked for his driver’s license; and without hesitation, he gave his license to the police officer.

Mr. Kromah added that he was told by the officer to go park the driver in front of their police deport something he did and thereafter, he asked what was his crime and he was told by Officer Sacker that his truck was defective.

The sand truck driver also narrated that his truck was parked for a while, he decided to talk with Officer Sacker to release his truck but the police officer told him that only police 103 can order the release of the truck and he do it.

Based said statement that only police 103 can the release of their truck, they decided to called their boss and they gave him another police officer number who could with Officer Sacker.

They called the number given to them by their boss and took the phone to Officer Sacker. But he refused to talk with whoever they called and later the phone was allegedly from the truck Conductor and place have it placed in his pocket.

While standing at the police station, another more defective vehicle than theirs was released which prompted the action of the truck Conductor demanding the release of their truck since another defective truck was released, the driver added.

It was based upon that the police officers told him to get out but refused on ground that their truck should be released.

Based upon his refusal to get out of the police deport, three officers from the deport physically him and mercilessly beat his conductor, thus leaving him unconscious and eventually leading to his death.
