The majority of Liberians—politicians and non-political figures—who monitor the Country’s political environment know him only for “talking”—a component art of Politics.
But Senator Abraham Darius Dillon of Montserrado County (opposition CPP) has an ‘intellectual surprise’ for those who think ‘one-way’ about him.
“I will write a book!” the political wave-making figure announced at the launching program of a Book, “Violation of Innocence”, at the Monrovia Christian Fellowship Center, 9th Street, Sinkor, Monrovia, Saturday, February 27, 2021. However, he didn’t state what the subject will be or when the time the book will be out.
The Author of “Violation of Innocence” is Mr. Thomas Woahloe, a former classmate of the now-Senator, at the St. Peter’s Claver High in Grand Bassa County during their childhood through to adulthood. Each person is an indigene of Grand Bassa County
“I’m constructively jealous of Thomas on writing of a book,” Senator Dillon, who sneaked into the launching hall, in a simple African shirt, trouser, and leather sandals, and followed by only two personal male security officers, confessed.
On the “major driver of national development”, the member of Liberia’s Upper Legislative Chamber pointed to reading.
“Reading makes a man,” he declared.
On personal higher education, the Senator declared: “I don’t have a university degree.”
He argued against most people’s perception of education being the ‘key to success’.
“I hear people say, ‘Education is the key to success. I have a different view. Education is not the key to success. Application of a person’s knowledge is the key to success. There several educated people or university degree holders today who are not successful,” the Senator argued.
The legislative politician concluded his Remark section on a political tone which took less than 180 seconds out of 22 minutes he spent on the stage.
“When you are a pastor, you will talk about Bible; when you are a politician, you will talk politics,” he began the ‘political component’ of his allotted time to speak.
Much of the ‘political time’ was clarification on opposition people’s perception of his political actions against the Executive Powers and actions of President George Manneh Weah.
A member of the Liberty Party, which later merged with three other political parties—Unity Party, All Liberian Party, Alternative National Congress—Mr. Darius Dillon said the National Legislature approves and allots national budget to develop various sectors or prevent economic/pandemic hit to any sector Liberia and being implemented through the Executive Branch being headed by the President. He mentioned Coronavirus (or COVID-19) as
“Unfortunately, the President calling some of these projects as his personal initiatives,” declared this man who came to the Senate first through Montserrado County’s By-Election in 2019, and retained his post through his victory in the Montserrado County’s Special Senatorial Election held on December 8, 2020.
In the Senatorial By-Election, his strongest contender was sitting-Representative Thomas Fallah of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC).
