Harper, Liberia- The poor performance of students in Maryland County in recent times has been blamed on their lack of seriousness about their lessons, Senator J. Gbleh-bo Brown has observed.
Sen. Brown has pledged his commitment to improving and supporting the Education system in this southeastern County, which is some 250 miles from the Liberian capital, Monrovia.
The Maryland County Senator told a major news conference in Harper recently, that students in Maryland county have underperformed in Exams administer by the West African Examinations Council (WACE) and its partners to elevate students entering senior High and leaving High schools ( nine and twelve graders ) .
Sen. Brown noted that over the years, student were not serious with the lessons and he is encouraging students of the Maryland County School System to change their difficulties to success.
Education brings Development to a Nation and a County and as such it is important to educate the succeeding generation so that they can impact the Environment positively, Sen. Brown said.
With a very large scholarship scheme at Tubman University–the Liberian government’s second highest institution of higher learning in Harper—Sen. Brown continue to support and provide financial aid for High School going Children whose parents are working .
The Maryland County Senator is on record for supporting schools both financially and providing school materials which include Chairs, textbooks for West African Secondary Schools Exams,Cement for Reconstruction of school amongst others instructional materials.
Senator Brown is graduate of the government of Liberia oldest and biggest High School in Maryland, Cape Palmas High School and one of the County’s Lawmakers who continues to actively support the education system.
At the Senate, he serves a Chairman on Internal Affairs, Good Governance and Reconciliation.
He is constructing an Elementary and Junior High School in Yobloken of Karluway District to buttress the Ministry Of Education efforts in Constructing Kingdengarden ,Elementary Junior and Senior High Schools across the country to be used as a shelter we students can sit and learn.
Prior to the just-ended WASSCE Exams, Senator Brown donated two hundred and seventy five thousand Liberians dollars to both private and public high Schools in the County to be use and adequately prepare students sitting the Exams this year.
