“Solidarity Forces” Protest At Liberia’s Legislature, Demanding Justice For Charloe Musu’s Death

MONROVIA – Angry Protesters in Solidarity against the alleged murder of the late Charloe Musu petition the 54th Legislature to ensure justice for the late daughter of former Liberian Chief Justice, Gloria Musu Scott.

They want the Lawmakers to ensure that the Justice Ministry to determine the would-be perpetrator, recommend several actions against those who are allegedly associated in the investigation.

Miiss. Charloe Musu, who was a prospective graduate of the Starz University in Monrovia, who was allegedly stabbed multiple times to death in their home in Brewerville at the late hour of the night on Wednesday, February 22, 2023. The death of Musu has drawn the attention of everyone in and out of Liberia just know who is involved in the death of Musu.

But the Liberian government through the Ministry of Justice is exerting all efforts to discover the undercover.

In the early morning hours of today, Monday, June 5, 2023, a big group of protesters stormed Capitol Hill, chanting anti-slogans toward the Justice Minister of Liberia, Frank Musa Dean for the late Charloe Musu and petitioned the Legislature.

The protesters outlined several recommendations, including conducting an independent and credible investigation to ascertain the truth of the matter and serve justice for the deceased.

Reading the petition on behalf of the protesters on the grounds of Capitol Building, Miss. Christiana Quayou said:

“We the people of Liberia cognizant of our basic constitutional rights and obligations of the Government of Liberia to protect citizens at all times against internal and external threats have assembled and resolved on the followings.”

“The Ministry of Justice must release unconstitutionally the findings of LNP in the Charloe Musu murder case, the ministry must issue an official press release indicating that it has been given recommendations of the following names of interest that are suspected of being involved in the Musu murder case,” the protesters’ petition added.

The petition further mentioned that the declaration of clearing the names of Monrovia City Mayor Jefferson T. Koiiee and others as applicable, citing that the Ministry of Justice must declare Cllr. Jerome Verdier a person of interest in the late Charlotte Musu case and seeks his extension from the United States, to answer in a court of competent jurisdiction in Liberia.

Protesters also urged the Liberian government file pursue legal action against the management of Spoon TV Network in Liberia, Stanton Witherspoon and subsequently shut down the institution while carrying out an independent investigation. Adding that Minister Frank Musa Dean should explain to the Liberian People what exactly the conversation between him the former Chief Justice, the night of the gruesome murder of Charlotte Musu.

According to the petition, the Legislature should take a vote of ” no confidence” in Justice Musa Dean and compel him to resign his post, and the Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Justice appoints a special independent counsel to investigate the Charlotte Musu’s alleged murder.

Receiving the petition on behalf of the Legislature, Nimba Representative, Johnson N. Gwaikolo thanked the angry protestors for peacefully assembling to petition their lawmakers on relevant issues to be addressed, and he promised to deliver to his colleagues conveniently for onward implementation.

“I like to take this time to receive on behalf of the Speaker and Honourable Members of the House of Representatives a petition from concerned citizens raising several issues to the attention of the government. With our Oversight responsibilities as I receive this document, I like to convey to all of you several issues that are being raised that will be discussed and acted upon in the confine of our responsibilities,” the Nimba County District #9 Rep. added.

For all of the issues that are being raised, Rep. Gwaikolo said there are committees established to address them and there is a committee on Judiciary as well as Plenary to discuss issues of concern once they are brought to their attention.

He promised that the Lawmakers will work with them to see how the issues they raised can be addressed for the betterment of the entire country.
