VOINJAMA, Liberia- A boy, age 10 has reportedly shot his seven-years-old brother Flomo Ruborgar, thus killing him instantly.
The incident is said to have occurred on February 19, 2023 in Woizu town, Zorzor District while the two kids were allegedly playing with their father’s single barrel gun.
According to our correspondent, the ten years old suspect recklessly fired his little brother on the head with the said single barrel gun.
Police investigators, who responded to the crime scene, established that the victim’s body was seen lying unconsciously close to the house with some marks believed to be single barrel bullet marks on his head and that the single barrel gun in question was seen in the room against the bed.
During Police preliminary investigation, the 10 years old accused Zubah Flomo disclosed to the police that after their father FLOMO RUBORGAR left them at the village and went to tap his wine on Sunday morning Feb.19,2023 at 0730hrs. That was when he took his father’s single barrel gun which he and the victim started playing with.
He told police that he later checked under the mattress and took the single barrel round, loaded the gun and while playing with said gun, unfortunately he fired his brother the victim.
When asked by police investigators, the 40-year-old father of the boy, FLOMO TUBORGAR owner of the gun claimed that after he left from the hunting bush that same day, he placed the gun in question behind the door in their room with the rounds at the head of their bed. He said he then left the children with their mother and went to tap his wine.
A 15-member Coroner Jury set up by the police to observe and examine the body of the victim revealed that there was a foul played into victim death meaning that victim die at the result of the single barrel wounds.
Meanwhile, police have charged the 40 years old father FLOMO RUBORGAR with recklessly endangering the welfare of a child which is a violation of section 16.4 and person precluded from receiving or possessing firearm is also a violation of section 17.9 awaiting court trial.
