LRA CG Salutes New ATAF Boss

Envisages New Chapter for African Tax Reform, Stronger Tax Cooperation

(Monrovia, Liberia, June 4, 2025) – The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) has extended heartfelt congratulations to Ms. Mary Baine on her appointment as the new Executive Secretary of the African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF), effective July 1, 2025.

In a press statement, LRA Commissioner General James Dorbor Jallah praised Ms. Baine’s appointment, citing her vast experience and unwavering commitment to advancing comprehensive tax systems across Africa. He emphasized that her leadership comes at a critical time when African nations are ramping up efforts to boost domestic resource mobilization and strengthen tax administrations.

“Ms. Baine’s appointment is well-deserved and marks a significant milestone for ATAF and the African tax community,” said Commissioner General Jallah. “Her proven track record in tax administration and international cooperation positions her to lead ATAF into a new era of promoting efficient tax systems that support sustainable development across the continent.”

Ms. Baine previously served as Commissioner General of the Rwanda Revenue Authority and held key leadership roles focused on strategic planning, international cooperation, and multilateral initiatives. CG Jallah expressed confidence that her leadership will elevate ATAF’s impact even further.

The LRA also paid tribute to outgoing ATAF Executive Secretary Mr. Logan Wort for his transformative leadership over the past 15 years. Under his stewardship, ATAF grew into a respected continental institution, helping shape tax policy, build institutional capacity, and promote international tax collaboration among African nations.

“We are grateful for Mr. Wort’s steadfast dedication to ATAF’s mission and for strengthening tax administration across Africa,” CG Jallah noted. “His visionary and inclusive leadership has significantly amplified Africa’s voice in regional and global tax discussions.”

The Liberia Revenue Authority reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with ATAF under Ms. Baine’s leadership to further enhance Liberia’s tax systems, support domestic resource mobilization, and contribute to sustainable national development.
