A Buchanan High School Alumnus Dedicates Newly Renovated Auditorium & Donates Books

The Manager of the Port of Buchanan, Siokin Civicus Barsi-Giah Buchanan has dedicated a newly renovated auditorium of the Liberia Christian High School in this port city, where he also provided books for the institution.

Siokin Civicus Barsi-Giah is an alumnus of the school who have contributed to the development and growth of the institution through salary provision and other projects such as the providing two truck-load of sand and 100 bags of cement with USD $ 200.00 towards a proposed building by the Alumni Association.

The Buchanan’s Port Mananger Giah who is an alumunus of the institution did such gesture during the dedication ceremony of the newly renovated auditorium on 20 January 2023 on the school’s campus in Buchanan.

Mr. Barsi-Giah said his gesture was in request frpm the school’s administration proposed to him in 2022.

“The school has been lying in ruins so as an alumnus I decided to step in the plate and sees it as a way of giving back to my beloved Alma Mater,” said Barsi-Giah.

In 2022 December, the Liberia Christian High School has some challenges such as payment of teachers’ salary, deplorable auditorium, textbooks among others where Siokin Civicus Barsi-Giah recently served as Guest Speaker at the Homecoming event of the school committing himself to renovate the damaged auditorium.

Mr. Barsi-Giah is also said to have helped with the salary payments for teachers for the month of December.

“The process has begun. I want to still have Liberia Christian High School on my resume so I must help to keep it alive,” the Buchanan Port Manager stated.

He added: “It was a blessing for my grandfather, Dr. Abba Karnga to ask the students and all in attendance to give me a standing ovation for the great job I did. Grandfather wasn’t hesitant to say I should continue to do good because being kind precipitates another.”

In another development, Mr. Barsi-Giah has provided additional $150 United States dollars to complete the payments of the teachers and also provided over USD $ 500.00 books which include Spelling, Vocabulary, reading and writing.

As for the monetary value of the newly renovated auditorium of the Liberia Christian High School is USD $ over 1,800.00 which lasted for two months from November- January 2023.

Siokin Civicus Barsi-Giah is a 1998/1999 graduate of the Liberia Christian High School in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County where he obtained his secondary high school diploma.

He was appointed as Buchanan Port Manager on September 10, 2021 by President George M.  Weah.
