The Liberia Land Authority has launched its awareness campaign on the dissemination of information on the Land Right Act (LRA) and the Liberia Land Authority Act (LLAA) in Sanniquellie City, Nimba County.

The launch of the ceremony was held in the main hall of the Nimba County’s administrative Building recently. The ceremony brought together citizens from the eighteen administrative districts of the county, including statutory superintendents, district commissioners, elders, chiefs, traditional leaders, women, marketers as well as the youth and the student community.

Weeks ago, Nimba’s commercial city of Ganta got its bitter taste of the consequences of land dispute, when two days of mob violence erupted over property ownership between two families.

Speaking during the launching ceremony, the chairman of the Liberia land Authority Atty. Adam Manubah said the launch is the LLA’s way of decentralizing its activities. He furthered that if citizens must legally acquire their land as enshrined in the Land Rights Acts, it’s important that they understand the steps required in land acquisition.

“The Hon. Superintendent and my dear people of this great county, our been here today is in continuation of our work, which is to make sure the Liberia  people get to know their rights to their land. We have brought to you the activities of the LLA from Monrovia to Nimba so that you can know how to own your land and what to do when there is a misunderstanding over a particular land.”

The LLA boss maintained that in order for citizens to live in the confines of the laws, it is important that they know what is contained in the law. Atty. Manubah assured the attendees that that as long as he remains the chairman of the LLA, all land matters will be handled in conjunction with the local authorities.

Also speaking to reporters after the launching ceremony, the land administrator of Nimba County called on the citizens to desist from selling a single parcel of land to more than persons.

He also disclosed that the most reported land case since he took office is the issue of private land ownership. He said, most private land administrators in the county do not have letter of administration. He maintained that it is important that estate administrators obtain letter of administration to prove that they are the legitimate administrators of their respective lands.

“Since we took over as land administrator of the county, the issue that we have observed is the issue of estate administrators not having letter of administration for their estate.” Mr. Eddie Beangar lamented.

Meanwhile, Superintendent Nelson Korquoi of Nimba County thanked the Liberia Land Authority Family and promised that the county leadership will work hands-in-hands with the LLA family to abort or mitigate land dispute in the county.
