Boy, 11 Allegedly Shoots Himself Dead With His Father’s Gun In Grand Kru, Liberia

GRAND KRU, Liberia- An 11-year -old boy identified as Daniel Gbeleh has allegedly shot himself dead reportedly with father’s single barrel gun in the southeastern Grand Kru County.

The incident happened recently in the Garraway Administrative District.

It occurred when little Daniel was said to have been playing with his father’s gun, when a bullet left in the arm mistakenly went off. The boy took the gun after his father left in following a hunting expedition.

Family sources told police investigators that the boy’s father forgot to remove the bullet after returning home from hunting.

The father’s years of experience in hunting is yet to be established by this Reporter.

So, when the boy put his finger into the trekker discharging the bullet into him instantly killing him.

This tragic incident took place in the bedroom victim’s parents.

The family of deceased child narrated that little Daniel was a happy and healthy child, who had no record of having medical condition, neither hds he spoken of committing suicide at any point in time.

Residents of the district say this is the first incident of this kind involving a child, although a number of adults have committed suicides and there have been other weapons related crimes within the county.

Meanwhile, Police in Grand Kru County have arrested the father of the deceased and charged him with negligent homicide, a crime that is in violation of section 14. 3 of the new panel law of Liberia, pending court actions.
