Change Of Guard In Bong Health Team: ‘Build On The Legacy I Left Behind’

GBARNGA, Liberia- Dr. Jonathan Flomo, outgoing County Health Officer of Bong County has admonished the newly appointed CHO to build on the legacy left behind for the common good of the Bong County Health System.

Dr. Flomo had been serving as head of the Bong County health team since October 2020.

He officially turned over the gravel of authority to Dr. Cynthia Blapooh, who is now the new CHO.

The official turn over ceremony was held at the Phebe Hospital main compound on Thursday, February 10, 2022

In his turning over message, Dr. Flomo said that he is hope hopeful that his successor will work with members of the county health team and all healthcare workers across the county and the citizens in order to help the ministry of Health improve the county healthcare delivery system.

Dr. Flomo strongly believes that the County health Team now under the leadership of his professional colleague will be second to none in the country in term of services.

Most importantly, the outgoing CHO wants Dr. Blapooh not to play to the politics of the county, but should focus her time in reviewing and reviving existence program met at the office for the overall betterment of the health team and the Ministry of Health.

He then lauded the citizens of Bong County, especially health caregivers for the support rendered him during his stayed as County Health Officer.

Said Dr. Flomo:“”I am grateful to you my people, especially to you my health workers across the county for the love and care you showed me during the one and a half years I spend here. I promised to always remember this place (Bong County), wherever I go, whatever I do, Bong County will always remain in my heart.”

In spite of the many constraints been faced by the Bong County Health Team, Dr. Flomo believes that he and his team was able to work with leaders in the county and the Ministry of Health to achieved the goal of the Ministry.

He has also commended President, Dr. George M. Weah for giving him the opportunity to serve his country in the Ministry of Health (MOH).

For his incredible work and outstanding role played in moving the county health team and furthered working with MOH in restoring the loss hope of some health workers in the county, Dr. Flomo was also gowned by health workers in the county.

For her part, the incoming Bong County Health Officer, Dr. Blapooh thanked the Almighty God being there for her, despite the ups and downs.

She also praised President Weah through the ministry of Health for giving her the opportunity to serve her people at the level of CHO.

The new CHO said that she is aware that taking on the tasks come with hard work, commitment, integrity and accountability, but stated that all of this can only be achieve by team work.

“So I am calling on all healthcare workers of bong county, let us work together to make the bong county health system a success. I cannot do it alone, it is a collaborative efforts.  Do not sit there, so if you were there relayed somehow before, I urged you to play your part and we will play our part and together we should succeed,” Dr. Blapooh.

He then vowed to work with her colleagues to help improve the system, build the cordial working between nurses, Doctors-patients relationship.

As County Health Officer of Bong County, Dr. Blapooh stated that seeking the welfare of health care workers across the county remains a major paramount to her administration.

She then called on citizens in Bong County, irrespective of their areas to support her leadership, as they did to other County Health Officer in moving the system forward, in line with the Ministry of Health and partners’ standards.
