As part of campaign engagement, the Independent candidate of District #:1 Margibi County, Jomah B. Samuels has been meeting with residents in Israel Community, warning them “not to vote for leaders with tainted records”.

He called on the citizens up their minds and choose the right leaders for better representation among the long list of candidates in the October 10 election. Mr. Samuels is among 15 candidates in the race for Margibi District #: 1 election including the incumbent lawmaker, Tebelrosa S. Tarponweh.

Speaking to some residents of Margibi County, District #:1 last weekend, Independent Candidate Samuels lauded residents of the District for the immense support they have shown him since the beginning of the campaign.

“People will come when only is the electioneering period, that is time they get to provide themselves as good people when the election is just two or three months away. Liberians, it’s time we examine our leaders; when people come, go, and check behind them. Don’t just make a decision, look at our country, Liberia is 176 years old, and our population is barely 6 million people. Our country is very small and rich but our people are still living in poverty,” Rep. candidate Samuels said.

“I spent 10 years in the United States of America, I did not see a politician give T-shirts and Caps to vote for them because Caps and T-shirts cannot transform somebody’s life but today we see most of our young colleagues gravitating towards politicians that give them Caps and T-shirts. They have conducted no program to improve human resource capacity building but today they will come and give you T-shirts”, he mentioned.

The representative hopeful explained that the time to make a decisive decision is at the ballot box on October 10, as such, Margibians, especially the people of District 1 should think about their children’s future and elect the right leader.

He added that their leaders are responsible for the mass poverty they have engulfed over many decades.

“Am here to expose the tricks of most politicians, they take money in their houses and bank accounts and give you a handout. Not knowing that they are the ones responsible for our conditions today. We have to brighten our minds because if people don’t tell you, you will not know. It is called filling the stomach and fooling the mind. What transformation has it done in your life? The only way this country can be transformed is by transforming the minds of the people. So let us open our eyes because some politicians pretend to be a humanitarian during the election period”, he asserted.

“The people take our money and pretend to be humanitarian. If you knowingly vote for someone who has tainted character what assurance will that person give you give them power? Sit down and think, if you know that the person has issues like corruption and killing and electing him or her as a leader what is the guarantee that the person is going to be a good leader? Six or nine years adding to your age is not a joke. Imagine a small country like Liberia, $USD 100 million entered this country, it’s not ordinary. Liberia is being placed in a high-risk category among nations in the world because of the amount of drugs that entered this country. We have been blacklisted for drugs trafficking and money laundering,” Mr. Samuels stated.

At the same time, he encouraged Margibians to challenge the stereotype of politicians who believe pretend to be humanitarian during the election and vote wisely and elect the right leader for better representation in the house of legislature.

“If they love you, let them come and build a vocational training Center for you, let them equip JFK hospital for you because when they get sick, they fly a private jet and they leave all of us here, but when we get sick, we go to JFK. When we go to JFK, JFK referred us to Lucky Pharmacy to buy drugs. The only way we can change this country is for us to forget about friendship and partisan business,” the representative hopeful informed residents of District#:1 Margibi County.
