Local media in Liberia including the private OK Fm Radio and FrontpageAfrica newspaper early this morning, Thursday, May 22, 2025 reported the death of former First Lady, Nancy B. Doe, widow of the slain Liberian President Samuel Kanyon Doe.

” Multiple sources confirmed her passing on Tuesday, though the exact date, cause, and location of death have not yet been officially disclosed,” says FrontpageAfrica. OK Fm also quoted some family sources as confirming the death of Mrs. Doe, who was said to have died after a period of illness.

Mrs. Doe has lived her life intermittently in exile and at home since the assassination of her husband by rebels of the INPFl led by the late Senator Prince Y. Johnson in September 1990.

“Family members and close associates are yet to issue a formal statement, but tributes have already begun to pour in from across Liberia, highlighting her role in the country’s history and her resilience in the face of national tragedy,” FrontpageAfrica is reporting.
