The Ministry of Education has concluded a stakeholder engagement in Grand Kru County aimed at preparing schools for the effective use of its Digital Learning Platform, Liberia Learns by Digital Radio and Television Program.
The awareness exercise targeted school principals, Parents-Teachers Associations (PTAs), and local education officials, focusing on how digital tools can support classroom instruction and improve student performance.
Speaking during the engagement, Dr. Salomey Tardy Hackman, Lead on Strategy and Impact, said the initiative is intended to equip both teachers and learners with modern learning approaches.
“Liberia Learns is designed to support teachers and help students develop strong literacy and numeracy skills using radio, television, and digital technology,” Dr. Hackman said.
She noted that the program is a national initiative of the Ministry of Education under the leadership of Education Minister Dr. Jarso Marley Jallah, with funding support from the Public Sector Investment Program.
Dr. Hackman explained that the digital platform also helps children improve speech and pronunciation through interactive lessons.
“Children are learning how to pronounce words correctly and express themselves confidently using smartphones and other digital tools,” she added.
Meanwhile, Blohkwon S. Toe, representing the Ministry of Education’s local office, said the program will strengthen teaching delivery in Grand Kru County.
“This initiative will improve the quality and efficiency of teaching and learning in our schools,” Toe stated.
Also speaking, Johnny Toe Jr., Principal of Barclayville Central High School, described the digital platform as a forward-looking solution.
“The program makes learning easier for students and gives teachers additional support in the classroom,” he said.
