Monrovia–Montserrado County District 12 Representative Jerry Kolubah Yogboh has announced a comprehensive road rehabilitation program across his constituency in the Gardnersville Township in the suburb of the Liberian capital.
He described the initiative as a decisive step to address long-standing infrastructure challenges and shield residents from the severe impact of the pending rainy season.
Rep. Yogboh made the disclosure during an interview on Prime FM’s flagship talk show, Inside the Legislature, on Friday, February 20, 2026. He said the project will be implemented over the next two months as part of a phased development strategy for District # 12.
Representative Yogboh explained that although his office has designed a multi-year legislative and development plan for the district, the urgent condition of roads requires immediate attention.
“We have a long-term development vision for District 12 that will guide our work over the next few years,” he said. “However, our most pressing concern at this moment is our road network. For the next one to two months, we are resuming and intensifying road rehabilitation works so that all major roads in the district can be made motorable before the rains begin and before the legislative break.”
He noted that road conditions in many communities have deteriorated to the point where residents struggle to commute, transport goods, or access essential services.
Boosting Economic and Social Activity
According to Rep. Yogboh, the rehabilitation project is expected to have far-reaching economic and social benefits. Poor road conditions, he said, have increased transportation costs, slowed business activities, and limited access to markets, schools, and health facilities.
“When roads are damaged, the entire community suffers,” he explained. “Traders cannot easily move their goods, students face difficulties getting to school, and emergency services are delayed. By fixing these roads, we are strengthening the economic life of our communities and making it easier for people to go about their daily activities.”
He added that improved roads would help reduce vehicle maintenance costs for transport operators and encourage local commerce by making neighborhoods more accessible.
The rainy season traditionally worsens road conditions in District 12, often resulting in flooding, deep mud, and traffic congestion that isolate communities and disrupt normal life.
The lawmaker said his proactive approach is intended to prevent a repeat of the annual hardship experienced by residents.
Representative Yogboh emphasized that the project reflects his commitment to responsive and people-centered leadership. He said the decision to prioritize road rehabilitation was based largely on repeated concerns raised by constituents during community engagements.
He further assured the public that the rehabilitation exercise would be carried out with transparency and urgency, adding that his office would regularly provide updates on progress as the work advances.
The road rehabilitation campaign is expected to be one of the most significant infrastructure interventions in District 12 in recent months and is seen as a foundation for broader development programs planned for the district.
Rep. Yogboh concluded by reiterating his commitment to sustainable development and practical solutions to everyday problems facing his constituents.
